1:1 computing model
Title: 1:1 Computing Model
Area of Mastery: Management and Implementation
Description:
This 1:1 Computing Model was completed as part of my coursework for ETT 592.
The 1:1 computing model was our opportunity to create a plan to analyze, design, develop and implement a 1:1 environment for a secondary school. For the assignment, my group created a fictitious secondary school, “ABC High School. In our scenario, ABC High School will be be providing all students a Google Chromebook to use during school hours. Our 1:1 Chromebook Program is an example of an excellent way for a school to fully integrate 21st century learning into the curriculum. In the plan, we included all the elements necessary for a successful roll out of a 1:1 computing plan. This includes:
This plan demonstrates my ability to manage resources, projects, and individuals. This plan provided me with an authentic learning experience, allowing me to create a plan that could immediately be implemented in an actual school. My group and I clearly thought through all aspects of a 1:1 computing program, clearly laying out how to first implement such a program, and then how to manage it.
The learners in my school would obviously benefit from my ability to deploy and manage a well-thought out plan. Students would have the devices at their disposal and, with the training I would make sure they received, would seamlessly integrate the 1:1 devices into their learning. It would be no different than a pen or a notebook. The device would just be a learning tool that helps them to achieve, not some gimmick they would only use every once in awhile. If problems do arise, I know from this artifact that I know how to anticipate and deal with them. I am confident that I could create, deploy, and manage such a program to increase student learning outcomes and successfully integrate 21st century learning into a school.
