Description:
This Evaluation Project was completed as part of my coursework for ETR 531.
As part of my coursework, my group members and I were asked to create a proposal for the evaluation of a program designed to teach digital literacy to teachers and students. We chose to evaluated a program for instructing teachers on how to utilize Google Apps For Education in their classrooms. The Evaluation project has several components. There is a program description with program background information, size, and evaluation needs. A program goals and outcomes section, outlining a logic model, stakeholder identification, and stakeholder prioritization. It includes an evaluation design, explaining the purpose, types of questions, collection and reporting procedures, and a list of measurements to be used. Finally, the project includes an evaluation management plan which a proposed timetable and estimated budget.
Rationale:
This evaluation plan demonstrates my ability to use appropriate assessment and evaluation techniques and apply them to an authentic learning scenario. This project enabled me to demonstrate my learning of the proper ways to approach and implement evaluation of a program in the real world. It became evident to me throughout completing this course-long process that program evaluation is an extremely methodical and deliberate process. This is invaluable knowledge to have, both from the evaluators standpoint and the more likely position that I will hold of the one implementing the program to be evaluated. By thinking like an evaluator, I am confident I will be able to anticipate potential roadblocks and be able to deal with them swiftly to ensure that my students have the best possible learning experience. The students at my school would benefit from my knowledge, as I now have the ability to think like an evaluator. I know what they are looking for in successful programs, so I know to make sure those things are there. By thinking ahead, my teachers will be able to spend less time worrying about implementation and more time making sure that students are receiving the best education possible.
