local area network planning presentation
Title: Local Area Network Planning Presentation
Area of Mastery: Management and Implementation
Description:
This Local Area Network Planning Presentation was completed as part of my coursework for ETT 573.
This artifact is a Local Area Network design presentation including a logical network diagram and an “as-built” diagram of the facility, complete with the physical lay out, electrical supply, and a physical network diagram. For the project, my group was asked to create a fictional school and design a Local Area Network to demonstrate our understanding of the needs such an endeavor would have. We created a one story high school, “Gottalern Academy,” and planned out the needs that a typical high school would have. As mentioned, this included the electricity and networking needs of the school, including for classrooms, common areas, and a media center. The presentation includes the critical decisions made by the team, such as physical school layouts, the software needed, and the philosophy of education design being used by our school.
Our Local Area Network plan includes:
This presentation is an example of my ability to manage resources and projects. It provided me with the opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge of topology and logical network diagrams and taught me how to create an “as-built” diagram for a school. I am confident that I am now conversant in the language of networking and that I have the ability to work with IT specialists to ensure that my school’s network and power supply will run smoothly and, should I need to, that I can work with said IT specialists to diagnose and fix an issues that might impeded student learning. I believe that my learners will benefit greatly from the knowledge I've acquired here. Will generally "unseen," the IT backbone of a school or organization is of absolute importance. By ensuring that my school has a sold Local Area Network, I am ensuring that my teachers and students have the resources necessary to learn and strengthen their 21st century learning skills. Whether it be in a 1:1 computing scenario or with classroom teachers utilizing media, I know my teachers and students will have the best and won't have to worry about the small things.

- The physical layout of the facility
- The physical diagram of the network infrastructure
- The wireless cloud coverage of the facility.
- An electrical schematic for the facility.
