This Technology Plan was completed as part of my coursework for ETT 570.
As part of my coursework, my group was asked to create a three year technology plan for a fictitious school, “Gottalern Academy.” We decided the school we created would utilize Google Chromebooks and Google Apps for Education, as my group member and I both work at schools that use Google Apps For Education and are interested in using Chrome OS devices in schools. Our plan includes a mission statement, a Technology needs assessment, Goals and objectives, Hardware/software plan and budget, Personnel position descriptions, Acceptable use policy, Professional development plan, and an Evaluation plan.
The evaluation portion consists of four components:
Evaluation is done using a number of tools. Surveys of the stakeholders, such as teacher and students, are conducted at various stages to see how the technology is impacting their planning/learning. There is also an analysis of teachers’ units and lesson plans to see how technology and particularly Google Apps and Chromebooks are being utilized. Teachers will created quarterly reflections on the program to share their thoughts. Finally, focus groups will be used to get an idea of how the various stakeholder groups feel the plan is working.
Rationale:
This evaluation plan demonstrates my ability to use appropriate assessment and evaluation techniques and apply them to an authentic learning scenario. This plan introduced me and familiarized me with issues surrounding the design of a school, district, library, or other organization’s technology plan. I feel confident that I can not only create a technology plan for a school, but that I also understand how to evaluate it to make sure that my school or institution is providing the best possible learning opportunities for all of the stakeholders, especially the students. It is in this way that I know my students will be positively affected by my learning. I will make sure that any program being designed or run in my school under my watch is effectively and efficiently evaluated to provide teachers with meaningful, constructive feedback.
